Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
I love musical movies like Chicago, Rent, Hairspray, Moulin Rouge, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is no exception. Of course, in each musical, there will be a bit of romance and stuff. Well, unlike the common stuff we usually get in musical type of movies, Sweeney Todd is very different. Instead of cheery kind of feel, we experience dark and gloomy throughout the movie. In fact, this movie is not for kids. I hope the parents will realize that not all Johnny Depp’s movies are all suitable for young children. The movie is a bit chilly as there are quite a number of murders made by the hero being shown to the audience. I guess those are the highlights for me in the movie because I never expect it to be very gory. If you don’t mind to see people getting their throat slit or you like to see people dies, you will like this movie.
About the musical and song aspect, I think it is just ok. The movie is not so cheery to begin with but there is a small number or nice songs. Nevertheless, it suits the movie theme. The songs are not exactly easy to sing too either as the tunes are not that catchy. It is like singing while talking.
I love the unique ending because it is something we don’t expect. If you have watched The Departed, you would experience the same concept. Alright, that’s it. I try not to reveal any plot line but in short, it is mainly about a barber seeking revenge from a judge who stole his happiness and his family. Make sure don’t bring your kids to see this because it is a bloody movie. Again, this is no Christmas movie. It should be a Halloween movie.

Hairspray Movie Review
I checked the Golden Globe nominations for the 2008 version of the award show and I noticed a new name on the list of the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture category. The name was Nikki Blonsky from the movie Hairspray. I have watched the movie before but I never really knew who was who in the movie except for John Travolta and Queen Latifah. So, I checked who the person was. To my surprise it is the big cheerful girl named Tracy Turnblad. I am so excited that she got the nomination. She did very well in the movie and she really made the movie fun to watch. Her positive attitude and enthusiasm made the movie a happy one.
To refresh our memory, the movie is about a high school girl who really loves dancing and watching “The Corny Collins Show.” One day, her dream to be on the show comes true. However, there are obstacles that she has to face before reach the top. This is the story of not only her dream but also the people surrounding her to be fulfilled. The movie is interesting to watch and like other musical type movies, very dramatic. Almost all main characters get to sing a song in the musical. Besides that, the transition from normal dialogue to song is smooth. This is a good show which has very colorful character personalities (John Travolta – for example).

No commentsThe Golden Compass Review
Hohoho another fantasy movie like LOTR and Harry Potter.
I just came back from watching the Golden Compass. If you have no clue what kind of movie it is, the movie is a fantasy flick like LOTR and Harry Potter. The reasons are the movie is an adaptation of a book, a teenager as the protagonist, Ian Mckellen also involved and dum dum dum – has a sequel! Yes, that is what I think because the story in the movie does not really end. Of course, a movie from a book can’t really cover everything from a fiction book in less than 2 hours.
The main reason I decided to watch the movie is because of Nicole Kidman. I heard form the news that Nicole is acting as a evil character in this movie. I am curious about her character. From the movie, I think she does a decent job but lacks actions. Oh yes, another actor is Daniel Draig from James Bond. Well, he only appears about 10-15 minutes in the movie. If you are his fan and hoping to see more of him, forget it! You will be disappointed.
Ok, I don’t want to ruin the movie by telling you the story. If you like having pets or keeping animals, I think you are going to like the movie a bit because there are tons of computer generated animals in it ranging from rats to bears. The story mainly revolves around the little girl who has the Golden Compass. It is her adventure with her soul a.k.a. daemon (her pet) using the compass to guide her way to safe her friend.
